CANCELLED – Cedar Bark and Pacific Northwest Basketry – 2-Day Workshop in MacDonald’s Corners, Ontario

May 23 - May 24

$155

Sadly my trip to Ontario to teach these courses has been cancelled yet we hope to reschedule them in the future when it is safe to do so. Keep well!

A Basketry Focus Workshop Presented by MERA Schoolhouse in McDonald’s Corners and Lanark Highlands Basketry Museum

This course will begin with a discussion and hands on demonstration on how to harvest natural materials for basketry such as barks, sedges, rush and grasses. A focus is on materials found in the Pacific Northwest which Joan will be providing. Materials such as red and yellow cedar bark, willow bark, west coast sweetgrass and beargrass will be on hand. On Day 1 participants will have the chance to prepare their own cedar bark for their project. Participants will be able to design their own small basket using a variety of weaving techniques and patterns including plaiting, variations of twining and twill weaves. Plenty of samples will be on hand providing lots of design options and inspiration.

Course Fee: $155 + $50 Material Fee
